Shikha Varma is a Senior Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), handling serious criminal cases including rape, child abuse and Homicide.
Shikha has developed a particular specialism in Honour abuse and forced marriage cases making her one of the few experts in these fields.
Shikha was called to the bar in 1999 and previously practised for 10 years as a Criminal Law specialist at the renowned 5 Kings Bench Walk in Temple, prosecuting and defending high profile cases.
Her work with victims of crime has won her the CPS Award for Excellence and she is a regular panellist speaking at many events and most recently for a Q&A session initiated with Karma Nirvana charity to support the victims of honour based crimes.
Not only is Shikha a successful lawyer; she has also worked within the media for a number of years. Her many exceptional and diverse talents include acting, presenting, voice-overs, dancing and choreography.
She has acted in films and TV Serials including: Kamal Hassan’s ‘Ramji London Waley’, Tamil Film ‘Wings’, British-Asian comedy ‘It Could Be You’ and Sohail Khan’s ‘I, Proud to be an Indian’ and provided Hindi and English voice-overs for a number of Government adverts.
Her dance career began at a young age, from her professional training in Kathak; to running a successful dance company for over 10 years; working with Bollywood stars including Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan, Juhi Chawla and Bipasha Basu.
Her dance group, IndepenDANCE toured the World performing at some of the finest venues and also International Film Festivals. She also received an award for her contribution to Dance at The Norway Film Festival.
But when you ask Shikha; her most important role is trying to be an inspirational mother to her beautiful seven year old daughter!
